Candy bags

 

Yahhh I found a picture of our candy bags. I bought avery stickers from Staples. You'll have to go to their website to download the template. The directions are written on the box if you get confused. I printed the labels on my basic $40 inkjet printer. I'm not sure if you can read what it says. It says:

 

 Love is SWEET

Take a TREAT

Cupcakes are the new wedding cake

 

I'm sure you can tell by now I like to be a little different. I didn't want a traditional wedding so of course we couldn't have a traditional cake. We decided to have cupcakes instead. We did have a little cake topper for us to cut. I told my husband no cake fight. He didn't listen as you can see :) haha.

 

You can't see them in these pictures but I did DIY cupcake wrappers. They were super easy to make but very time consuming. Off Beat Bride has the tutorial I used to make mine. Check it out!

 

 

 

 

 

Chandelier LOVE

 

When we finally decided our wedding was going to have a vintage theme I envisioned a chandelier hanging above the alter. I got my wish :). We also bought a huge chandelier that was hung above our table. Aren't they beautiful?

I ordered the big one  from Wake Up Frankie for($145)


Love is sweet take a treat

 

 

It would have been perfect to give out golf balls and t's as our party favor since we got married at a golf course but that just wasn't our style. We both LOVE sweets so we decided to have a candy bar. It was a hit especially with the kiddos. 

I got all of the candy from Sweeties. I saved a few bucks going local as opposed to online. Sweeties actually had better deals and more of the color options I was looking for anyway. All of the candy  I chose was white, black, grey, and silver. I bought black shiny coffee bags online. I also bought cirular sticker labels (from Staples) and rectangular place card labels that had silver trim (from Joanns).  I printed the same saying it says in the frame below onto the circular labels and stuck them to the coffee bags.  Then I printed the name of each candy on the place card labels.

 

 I thought a candy bar would be a cheap party favor. HA! Boy was I wrong. After the wedding I added it all up and we spent around $550  on vases ($100 at Wal-Mart), candy ($350), candy scoops ($50), bags, and labels ($50). Well you only get married once, right. It was $$$ well spent.

A friend of mine bought me this hanger for my bridal shower. This has got to be one of most thoughfu gifts ever. I love it!

 

Damask Diva Designs

The seating chart is kind of a DIY project. She sent me the pdf file and I had to have it printed at Kinko's. I bought a black poster board and used spray adhesive to adhere it. This custom seating chart cost me a total of $60.

 

She made these damask votive holders for my remembrance shrine too.

Birdcage Card Holder

 

Here is another one of my many DIY projects I did for my wedding. I bought this birdcage at Ross for $15 btw. I spray painted it silver and attached a piece of black ribbon to it with double sided tape (Elmer's is the best). I printed a label that said cards and placed it where the two ends of the ribbon met. And there she is. Easy peasy!

 

DIY Confetti Cones

 

I made  confetti cones to place on the arm of each chair during our ceremony. This is not a quick DIY project. I made 150 of these and it took me a few weeks to get them done. I ended up making 75 white confetti cones with sayings and 75 solid black confetti cones. Don't limit yourself to plain ol' white. Get crazy! Use colored paper or floral print would look awesome as well.

 

Things you'll need:

thick Paper (I used black and white paper I bought from Hobby Lobby)

double stick tape (I highly recommend Elmer's double sided tape)

good scissors or paper cutter

ink jet printer

ribbon

hole puncher

Instructions:

 Cut the paper down to 6″ squares.

Lay the square on a flat surface.

Take one edge and start to lightly fold up to the corner across from it. You're goal is to make them into the shape of a cone. It took me a couple tries to get the hang of it.

Run double stick tape along the inside of the edge you were folding.

Then create your labels with the saying of your choice. I printed them on plain white paper.  Mine said… After “I Do” Please shower the newlyweds as they walk down the aisle.

Cut them out.

Adhere the labels to the top  of the triangle part of the cone.

Hole punch above the saying.

Cut ribbon.

Put the ribbon through the hole and tie it in a bow.

Then fill them with confetti or rose petals.

 

 

 







 

Feathered brooch clip and matching shoes

 I didn't want my shoes to be the same as my MOH or BM's so I ripped the brooches off of my shoes and hot glued ones that matched my veil and earrings. I am so matchy matchy. It's rediculous!

 



Gifts for my bridal party

One of the gifts I gave each girl in my bridal party was a custom hair piece to wear in their hair on my wedding day. I gave my matron of honor, bridesmaids, and junior bridemaids a feather/brooch clip that was similar to the one I wore but smaller. And  I gave the flower girls brooch headbands. Again, I'm sorry I didn't get any close ups but you get the idea.

DIY 2 in 1 Birdcage Veil

 
I knew I HAD to wear a birdcage veil for my wedding but I couldn't find one that I liked or that was in my price range. So, I decided to make my own. I actually made the veil and the feathers/brooch clip seperately. I wanted to wear both pieces for the ceremony but just the feather/brooch clip for the reception. I think the finished product turned out pretty dang good. I wish I would have taken pictures while making this goreous little piece but I didn't so written instructions will have to do.

 

Things you'll need:

 french or russian netting (I order off of etsy)

black and white feathers (I got mine from Hobby Lobby)

brooch (I got mine from Michael's)

hot glue gun

felt

Clips

needle

thread

scissors

 

Instructions:

 For the veil

Lay the Russian netting out on a flat work surface.

Cut the netting into a  14-by-14-inch square.

Make sure not to cut the finished edge. This is the edge that will lay over your eye. I had to cut mine a little smaller then 14-by-14 but it's good to start out with a bigger piece of netting and cut it as you go.

Bunch up the top of the netting until you have all of the cut edges secure in your hand.
Play with the netting in the mirror until you like how it lays over you eye.

Sew the netting that you have bunched together. If you don't have a needle and thread handy just hot glue it together. It's okay if it looks sloppy. The bunched up part with be covered by feathers anyway.

Turn the veil over and hot glue a clip onto the center of the veil. I opened up the clip and attached a piece of felt in between so when the clip closes it won't be glued shut.

Allow the glue to dry thoroughly before proceeding.

 For the feather/brooch clip

 Cut a rectangular piece of felt.
Arrange your feather how you want them to lay and one by one hot glue them to the center of the felt. Make sure the felt is not visible.

Hot glue your brooch on top of the feathers. I glued mine to the bottom center as you can see in the picture below.
Turn it over and hot glue a clip onto the center of the felt. Like I said before make sure to open the clip and place a piece of felt in between it before gluing.
Let this dry. 

Insert the veil clip into your hair in front of your ear.
Attach the feather/brooch clip to the bottom center of the veil.
Pull the veil over your face and bobby pin if needed.

I wish you could see this birdcage veil up close. I literally made it 15 minutes right before we had to leave the house for our engagement shoot. It was the perfect touch to complete my outfit!

Junior Bridesmaids Dresses

I have been searching high and low for junior bridesmaids dresses. I finally found the cutest dresses online at Kohl's. Not only were they the perfect fit for my vintage themed wedding, they were only $25 with a 15% off coupon. SCORE!!!

OMG'sh!!! How cool is this? Our engagement shoot was featured on La Belle Bride. I feel so honored!!! I hope my vision can inspire other brides to be :).

$30 Vintage Pumps

We were feeling a little lucky after the amazing deal we found on the BM's dresses so we headed over to DSW. We were looking for black peep toe pumps. Every wedding I have ever been to, within mintues of dancing, all the women have their heels off. I wanted to make sure my bridesmaids bought something they could last in all night. There were these steve madden satin pumps for $80. They were really cute but they also had a REALLY high stiletto heel. Being the bargain shopper that I am, I headed over to the sale rack. I found black peep toe pumps with a big brooch on them. The heel was thicker and not too high either. They were originally $79.99 marked down to $49.99 and were 40% off. Who says you can never find anything on the sale rack?

$12 Bridesmaid Dresses

 

So my bridesmaids and I went to San Tan Mall to browse bridesmaid dresses. I didn't care if the dresses were all the same, I just wanted them to be black. I also really wanted them to buy something they could wear again. We went to just about every clothing store in the mall and found nothing. As we walked back to the car we spotted a little boutique called Romy. I had given up at this point but thought it was worth a look. There were these really cute black dresses on a sale rack tucked in the back corner. They were marked down from $60 to $40 and were 70% off. AND to top it off my bridemaids loved the dresses. Good thing we took a look!

Mock Wedding Shoot

Nick and I had the honor of doing a mock wedding shoot for Talking Stick Golf Club (our wedding venue). Our pictures will be displayed in their wedding book, on their website, and in local magazines. It was weird "pretending" to get married but a great experience nonetheless.  I thought I would share a few of my favorite pictures.  Thank you Kellee for loaning me your beautiful dress.
